All About Bloom Mental Health Services, pLLC

  • A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse with specialized training in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. PMHNPs provide comprehensive care—including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy—for individuals across the lifespan.

With both medical and therapeutic expertise, PMHNPs are uniquely positioned to take a holistic, person-centered approach to mental health care—addressing not just symptoms, but the full context of your experience.

  • We provide care for a variety of common mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sleep difficulties, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, mood regulation, adjustment issues, grief, and low to moderate symptoms related to substance use. We also supports clients dealing with life transitions, identity exploration, and self-esteem concerns.

This practice is designed for individuals who are motivated, engaged, and ready to work toward meaningful change. We do not provide crisis services, on-call support, or treatment for high-acuity or emergency mental health conditions. Patients requiring acute or urgent care are encouraged to seek appropriate emergency or specialized services.

Ideal clients often include new parents, students, professionals managing stress, and family members affected by addiction or substance use disorders seeking support for themselves.

  • We provide individualized medication management, psychotherapy, or a combination of both—tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Medication management involves a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and ongoing monitoring to ensure that any prescribed medications are safe, effective, and well-suited to your situation. This includes discussing benefits, potential side effects, and making adjustments as needed to support your mental health and overall well-being.

Psychotherapy offers a supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, develop coping skills, and work through challenges. Drawing on evidence-based approaches—including techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—therapy is personalized to help you build resilience, manage emotions, and foster lasting change.

Whether you choose medication, therapy, or both, the goal is to provide compassionate, collaborative care designed specifically for you.

  • Our approach is rooted in thoughtful, individualized care. We prioritize non-pharmacological interventions whenever appropriate, working to understand and address the root causes of distress—not just the symptoms. While medication can be an important and effective tool, we see it as one part of a broader treatment plan rather than the first or only solution.

  • As a telehealth-only practice, all appointments are held virtually—allowing you to access care from the comfort and privacy of your own home, with no need to commute. We serve clients throughout Massachusetts via secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions. Appointments are available by request, with flexible scheduling options, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of busy lives.

  • While prescribing controlled substances via telehealth is permitted under certain conditions, this practice does not prescribe them. Instead, we focus on evidence-based, non-controlled alternatives that can be equally effective in addressing your needs.

We are confident in working collaboratively with you to find safe, appropriate treatment options that support your goals without relying on controlled medications.

  • We are an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. This allows me to offer highly personalized care without the limitations that insurance companies can place on treatment—such as session length, frequency, or diagnosis requirements.

By working outside of insurance, we are able to focus entirely on what’s clinically best for you, not what’s reimbursable. Many clients choose to use their out-of-network benefits and we are happy to provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

  • superbill is a detailed receipt provided after your appointment that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network reimbursement. If your provider is not in-network with your insurance, you can submit a superbill to your insurer to potentially get partially reimbursed for the cost of your visit.

    A superbill typically includes:

    • Your provider’s information and credentials

    • The date and type of service (e.g., psychotherapy, medication management)

    • CPT (billing) codes and diagnostic codes

    • The total fee charged

Please note: Receiving a superbill does not guarantee reimbursement, as each insurance plan is different. We recommend checking with your insurance provider about out-of-network benefits.

If you’d like a superbill for your visit, just let us know—we’re happy to provide one.

  • Payment is accepted via cash, check, or Zelle. Detailed payment instructions will be provided at the time of scheduling.

  • Before scheduling an intake assessment, you'll have a free 15-minute consultation with us to ensure the practice is a good fit for your needs. During this call, we will ask about your reasons for seeking care, review any current medications, and determine whether her services align with your goals. If it's a good match, you'll receive consent forms to complete before your first appointment. Once the consultation is complete, your intake will be scheduled.

  • Your privacy is important to us. This website does not collect personal health information (PHI) or share your data with third parties without your consent. If you choose to contact us through the site, any information you provide (such as your name, email, or phone number) will be used solely to respond to your inquiry and coordinate care.

Please do not submit sensitive or confidential medical information through contact forms or email. All clinical communication and documentation will occur through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform once care is established.

We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA. If you have any questions about our privacy practices, please feel free to reach out.

Our Provider: Katie Sutherland, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Katie was raised in the Greater Boston Area and holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University, and a Master of Science in Nursing in Psychiatric Mental Health from Regis College. A former Nurse Corps Scholar, she began her nursing career in 2018 by serving in underserved communities. She became a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in 2023 through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Katie’s clinical training includes experience at McLean Hospital, and she has since worked across the spectrum of mental health care as a PMHNP —including inpatient detox, clinical stabilization services, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient care. She has completed intensive foundational training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and, in a relatively short time, has developed deep insight into the complexities of the mental health system in Massachusetts.

Katie specializes in working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, substance use, thought disturbances, and relationship concerns. She also supports individuals navigating identity, self-esteem, and family or relational dynamics, with a particular interest in students, new parents, and families affected by mental illness.

Her approach blends psychotherapy and, when appropriate, medication management. She is committed to client-centered care that offers both symptom relief and deeper, insight-oriented growth. Her work focuses on equipping clients with practical tools while helping them better understand themselves and their patterns.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband, two Australian Shepherds, and extended family. She values both mental and physical wellness and believes in practicing what you preach—often running, going to the gym, or spending time outdoors.

In October 2025, Katie will launch a small, thoughtfully designed private practice focused on highly personalized, attentive care.

Our Services

  • Consultation (15 minutes) - Free

We offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation to help you determine if our practice is the right fit for your needs. She will explore your mental health concerns, lifestyle factors, and relevant psychosocial background. Together, you will discuss your goals and begin developing an individualized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.
